He was a Persian from Jayy, a village near Isfahan. He was the primary landowner in this village. A man of great wealth and importance. But, he loved one thing more than all of the world:

his son.

When we love something immensely, our greatest fear is the fear of losing that object of our love. Thus, we sometimes lock it tight, close to us. We sometimes enslave that object that we love, that object that has enslaved our love. That is not love. That is infatuation.

And he did that, with his son. Locked him up.

One day, he needed someone to tend to his farm, but he himself could not do it. Thus, he had to do what he feared: he had to let his son free. He instructed his son to go. But, he warned his son not to get stuck anywhere. The worry enough will make it hard for him to do his business.

So, the boy left for the farm.

And he did not return.

To be continued…
